Abstract Submission Guidelines & Prize


Poster Numbers, Oral / DVD Presentations at ALS 2011 ASM

Papers that have been short-listed will be presented in the Free Paper (abstracts) Sessions on Friday 18 November at 09:10 - 10.00 and at 13:30 - 14.20.

British Journal of SurgeryPapers should be a total of 7 minutes duration with 3 minutes for discussion afterwards. The winner of the best oral abstract will be presented with the 2011 David Dunn Medal and a cheque for £600 generously sponsored by the British Journal of Surgery (BJS). The announcement of the ‘2011 David Dunn Prize’ winner will be made during the ALS Awards Ceremony at 15:30 on Friday 18 November.

Those selected for oral presentation will automatically have their papers published in a supplement to the Surgical Endoscopy Journal.

The presenters of the top ten Short Papers will be awarded prizes supported by the ‘ALS Trainee 2011 Scheme’ and ALS Industry Partners’. The presenters must be trainees to qualify for this prize.

Poster Exhibition & Prize

The Poster Exhibition will take place in the Marble Hall, (first floor) City Hall, from 08:30 on Thursday 17 November until 15:45 on Friday 18 November 2011. The maximum area available for each poster will be 945mm wide x 2000mm long (portrait style). Posters must be attached securely to the display boards with Velcro, which will be provided. Pins, nails or other methods of adhesion must not be used.

BBraunAll posters will be judged on Thursday (between 12:00-14:00), when the presenting authors MUST be in attendance by their posters. The winner of the best poster will be presented with a cheque for £150 sponsored by B.Braun. The announcement of the ‘2011 ALS Best Laparoscopic Poster Prize’ winner will be made during the ALS Awards Ceremony at 15:30 on Friday 18 November.

DVD Submission Guidelines & Prize

BBraunDVDs should be a total of 5 minutes duration with 3 minutes for discussion afterwards. Only ‘in-house’ productions will be accepted and 'voiceover' is compulsory. Please send five clearly marked copies to:

Presenting a poster at the ALSGBI 2011 meeting?

This year the ALSGBI are once again working with Scienceposters, a professional poster design and/or print company to provide an optional poster service. Presenters submitting their poster content for design before the 3rd November will qualify for a £25 discount. A 10% print-only discount is also available and a free delivery service to the meeting at Cardiff.
