Registration for Cholecystectomy Quality Improvement Collaborative – 3 (Chole-QuIC3) will close on 7 March 2021.
This groundbreaking project will offer frontline teams the opportunity to improve outcomes for patients with gallstone disease, whilst also developing transferable Quality Improvement skills.
Our project team will assist you in introducing interventions and driving change that have the potential to significantly improve the quality of care for patients with acute gallstone disease by reducing time to surgery in line with national guidance (see NICE Clinical guideline [CG188] for more information).
CholeQuIC and CholeQuIC-ER sites that have fully introduced changes substantially improved outcomes for their patients by significantly reducing time to surgery for patients needing an emergency cholecystectomy. They were able to operate on more patient, quicker. As well as improving care for their patients, the changes to their pathway meant that pressure on the system was relieved and resulted in them saving their service money. Our analysis suggests that Chole-QuIC trusts saved an average of £38,586 a year as a result of increased emergency cholecystectomies.
