Bariatric and metabolic surgery is increasingly performed globally. Patients who undergo bariatric procedures can develop complications in the early post-operative setting or later and may present with an acute abdomen to the emergency department. Management of these patients may pose unique challenges to the general surgeon due to their atypical, insidious presentation and altered gut anatomy.
This survey aims to identify current pathways and surgeons’ approach on the management of postoperative bariatric emergencies. The survey is open to all general surgeons, including higher specialty trainees, in bariatric and non-bariatric units within the United Kingdom. We will appreciate if you could complete this short survey, which will take no more than 4 minutes. No personalised information or data will be stored.
