UCL Surgical Society is amongst the largest and most active societies at UCL, equipping aspiring surgeons and physicians with the practical skills and knowledge they require to achieve their goals. The Women in Surgery conference aims to inspire women to pursue surgery by tackling the gender imbalances in the field demonstrated by the fact that only 14% of all UK Consultant Surgeons are women. We are doing this by organising workshops and inviting a range of prolific speakers to talk about motherhood, training pathways, CV building, networking, and the unique combination of manual and emotional skills demanded in a surgical career.
